It is said that numbers tell the truth and reveal hidden stories. When I was the CEO of my $50 Million business in luxury hospitality, I learned to extract a very special nectar out of my quarterly financials.
There I would find gaps, gains and biases that unveiled a reality I would use to adapt or confirm my next steps.
Something is happening right in front of our eyes
Wealth is expanding literally and figuratively. Wealth’s definition, attribution, creation, preservation and transmission is under a microscope.
Over the next two decades an estimated $85 Trillion in assets will be passed down from the silent generation & baby boomers to their loved ones…and a lot of those are Women. Furthermore, Women are creating financial success at record rates and developing themselves in ways that are becoming unwavering, unavoidable, unshakable.
We are witnessing the biggest shift of the century: Women shaping the future by shifting their relationship with wealth.
The lens with which one sees Wealth is the determining factor for a more sustainable and impactful game that can change everything.
A Tale of Two Stories
Here are some numbers about Women in Business today that offer us lenses that tell one side of the story.
As entrepreneurs and business owners, women:
receive less than 2% of funding for their businesses, often compelling them to rely on self-funding.
61% bootstrap + potentially fail
20% see their small businesses fail in the 1st year; 50% in the first 5 years
32% are burnt out consistently at work – more than 50% in leadership positions
Get .72 cts on the dollar of their male counterpart, i in upper-level executive positions
Will require 152 years, at the current rate, for full parity/ gender gap to be bridged - 2023 global gender gap report
In Corporate America, we are witnessing:
A 25% drop in the number of Female CEOs last year, in Fortune 500 companies
Female representation is falling by more than 50%moving from entry- level to the c-suite
I don’t know about you …but interpreting these numbers about the state of Women in business today would mean that we are in a very bad shape!!! It feels like little progress has been accomplished, that there is so much to bridge and to force…to get ahead.
The silos feel like obstacles, the bro culture feels unescapable.
YET think again… because here are some numbers that tell a very different story about where we are at in our rising.
Today we-Women:
Control 33% of the world’s fortune & outpacing global wealth by 7.2%
Control over 31.8 trillion of worldwide spending
Control 85% of all consumer purchases
Will add 28 Trillion as an additional boost to the global GDP when the gender gap is closed
Generate $154 BILLION as “self-made” Women to the combined fortune list
Hold more than 60% of personal wealth in the US
Could prevent 2.06 giga tons of carbon from entering the atmosphere by 2050 when we are allowed in agriculture
The story here is radically different.
From these latest numbers, we are rocking the world in ways that transcend history. We are shaping the future, we are controlling our destiny and we sit on our own pedestals!
So what’s the difference between the 2 stories? OPTICS.
Depending on what you want to see, you will see. Depending on your present brain’s wiring – shaped by your familial conditioning of money beliefs, by your present state of power & confidence, by your unconscious and past trauma - you draw out a story that makes sense to you now. We all see what we choose to see, even when we believe we have no choice.
Optics is a choice that comes from a conscious or unconscious belief.
The Emergence of the Great Wealth Transfer
I often talk about how the Great Wealth Transfer is underway, how we are in such an exciting paradigm where Wealth is being redrawn and redefined to venture in creating, preserving and transmitting it.
Soon – by 2045, 20 years is nothing - $84 trillion will be placed in the hands of the next generation. As a result, this transfer will place magnificent amounts of money into the hands of women, as wives and daughters stand to inherit assets typically held by male baby boomers.
But women aren’t only inheriting wealth, they are also creating wealth at much higher rates than inheriting it. Tech advancements and societal shifts are supporting women to successfully maneuver the entrepreneurial jungle gym.
My thinking is that money in the hands of females will further fuel the Wealth landscape in ways never seen before. With money comes great responsibility and economic power for the Education system, the Banking system, the Governments to finally pay attention to how we think, invest, create. Our yields demonstrate our differences in thinking.
Become Your Capital
So, what comes first, the chicken or the egg? Is it the numbers or the lens through which you see the numbers? The answer is both.
A Woman’s lens is crucial and determines her level of success throughout her life.
Females developing their Inner Game of Wealth as the foundational lens fueling their unwavering strength, resilience and boldness from within is THE capital that yields forever more Wealth in every area of her life. Wealth becomes her inner state, a prosperity mindset, an embodiment of worthiness, a source of creation, a limitless capital of ease and freedom.
Curating your Wealth from within is like buying insurance: the ONLY source that never leaves you dry, never leaves you alone, never stops giving.
And that’s HUGE because as Women, we experience a wide array of inflection points in our life that beat most men: gender gap pay, maternity leave, lack of funding for Female Founders, racial gaps, divorce – separations – domestic violence, single motherhood, etc. Your Inner Game of Wealth is the fuel that supports, saves, inspires you regardless of who or what is around.
Women today are in a very powerful position: they create the Wealth they choose. But the one choice they really must make is to develop the sort of resilience that belongs to champions whose unwavering and unapologetic fortitude pledges staying power.
From that core Wealth emerges a type of prosperity that aligns with external riches in form of investments, accumulation of physical assets, legacy, and more value creation. The World is your oyster.
Final Thoughts
I don't know any super financially successful person, like Bill Gates, who set out to make millions before having a vision and the unwavering resolve to pursue it as a mission!
Money is a tool, an exchange of value, an instrument to create change and impact. Numbers are the magnifying glass on what you choose to see. Whether created or inherited millions will never heal your inner void, scarcity mindset, and mental health issues. I know that from personal experience.
